Captured at home after Battle of Shiloh and released; Fought at Selma and captured with General ForrestÕs forces by Major GeneralWilson; was taken to Macon, GA as a prisoner and finally paroled. Adjunct of the One Hundred Fifty Fourth Tennesseee Senior Regiment as a Colonel. Joined General Forrest attached his command to Adams Brigade. Lived in St. Louis after war and came to New Orleans in 1867. My husband and I net and visite dwith Winnie a couple of times and sent many letters back and forth durin g theyears we knew each other. My husband of course, was related th rough theRandel line, not the Robinson line. I checked through the information I have received through the year sand find a bit on the Robinsons that may be of interest to you . I don'thave a copy machine handy, since we live out in the countr y and don'tget to town as often as we should perhaps. So I will cop y the info Ihave and hope it will be of some use to you. First of all, my husband's great grandfather was a brother to Jame sHarvey Randel who married Anna Robinson. We have been interested in famil yhistory for a long time and have quite a bit of information on the fanily o f Anna Robinson and her husband, James Harvey Randel. It isn't complete b y anymeans but I would be happy to share that information if you wan t it. Written on the 24th day of June 1904. Dedicated by Anna Randel. 'Lewis Robinson born in 1669, came to America from the Northern par t ofIreland something over 200 years ago. Two years later he marrie d a girlfrom Ireland. He owned 40 acres of land which he leased fo r 99 years.It is now the heart of New YOrk City. And for lack of f amily recordshis descendants are unable to get this property. His daughter Betsy Robinson married John Hamilton near the year 170 0.She died at the age of 72 in 1741. John Hamilton died at the age of 72 i n1731. Their child Elizabeth Hamilton married Ebenezer Robinson in August a tage 39 years. Ebenezer R. Robinson died June 6, 1851 at age of 55 years. J ohn Robinson, borther of Betsy Robinson was Colonel in the war of 1812 .Josha Hamilton, brother of John Hamilton was Major in the was of 1812, wa swounded and died. Jane Robinson was born July 30, 1817, Phyanna Robinson wa sborn March 1819. Died Sept 1822. Samuel Robinson was born Sept 28, 1820 ,died July 11, 1849 Anna Robinson born May 19 1822, Died Jan 14 190 8 (MrGrandmother) Hamilton Robinson born Oct 17, 1824, Josha Robinso n bornSept 27 1826 Died July 6, 1896 William Robinson born Sept 1828 , EbenezerB. Her husband was a carpenter, farmer and grocer. from Rushville, Schuyler County, IL Name of newspaper and date omitt ed - 'In 1900, Mrs. William Underhill, whose maiden name was Jane Robinson ,tells about her D.A.R. Lineage. She was 83 years old and often heard her mother's Father tell of His, and his Father's was experiences. The Grandfathe rbegan his career in the Continental Army when he was 16, and served through outthe war. He was first in Quarter MAster Department distributing ration s tovarious forts. 'At one time he and six others loaded a canoe to take down a riv erto another fort. While stopping on the bank for dinner they were attack edby Indians and hid in the brush. Her grandfather was still in the boat ,saw the danger and jumped in the water. Swimming under the water he towed i tacross the stream... Each time he raised his head bullets splashed in the wa teraround him. He reached the fort, gave the alarm...A party return ed torescue the wounded men. He was at the battle of Bunker Hill, C had'sford and Brandywine, Where they crossed the stream on floatin g ice.Other tales she remembered were the cruelty of Indians to Pen nsylvaniasettlers and burning their homes. Her grandfather Thomas H amilton wasamong those killed. He served under Washington for 3 yea rs, wasattacked by Indians and scalped before rescue was possible. 'Grandfathers, William Robinson and John Hamilton, served with t heir fathers and their brothers. Both grandfathers had brothers serving , twowere killed. When the War of 1812 broke out, both grandfathers joined aft erHull's surrender. Grandfather Hamilton's brother was killed on La keErie. God spared his life so that he could teach his, and his grandchildren to love the country he had suffered so much to make free .That is what gave me the strength to let my husband and two sons t akepart in the Civil War and help hold up that flag so many of my pe oplehad fought and died for. I was left alone with five small child ren, theoldest a cripple, but we struggled through. Grandfather Rob inson diedwhen father was young. One brother served in the Mexica n War andanother in the Civil War.'
