from 'Commemorative Biographical Record' received from Norma Lawrence Dec.

1994 'Robert Hamilton, grandfather of our subject, and a soldier of the

Revolutionary war, purchased of the heirs the east half of the tract above

mentioned, and in 1789 built the dwelling which is yet standing on theriver

bank, on the public road leading from Jersey Shore to Lock Haven, and isone of

the landmarks of the township. He married Anna Jackson, whose father hadcome

to this section from Orange county, N.Y., and in 1790 they beganhousekeeping

at that home, where they spent the remainder of their days, the grandfather

dying June 2, 1845 at the age of 82, and his wife April 16 1862, at the

advanced age of 95 years.'
