While there they built & used th efirst Brick Kiln in Polk Co. He was struck by lightning on the return tri p to Schuyler Co., where the family appears to have settled. Copies of the papers settling his estate have been provided by Barba ra Snedden. They are quite lenghthly. The itemized list of his debts a nd possession are quite interesting.
