I have notheard from you for some time but I received a l etter from ?? a shorttime ago. they was then all well and I reseve d on from a dear youngfriend that I had almost forgot. It was Jane W oodruff. She is at Hillsand she has grone to a large handson Woman . Wills folks are all welland Will is doing well. I reseved one le tter from Nancy they were wellbut poor Hamilton I hear nothing of . We are now in winter quarters andwill probablt remain here till s pring. there is nothing doing here nowbut ocassional drill except t oday. the guy's are having a merry timeout doors raseling boxing an d so forth but as for me I do not enjoy suchsport I am of rather a r eserved and melencoley temperament yet I enjoylife in my quiet way e ither singing some sentimental balid or thinkingof the dear friend s far away or reading some book or paper, but as booksar scarce I ha f to put up with anything that falls in my way I begin towish that t his rebilion would wind up and then I wood return to myfriends at le ast a wiser man but as I have ritten all that I can thinkat presen t and having written 2 other letters today I will now close bysubscr ibing myself your affectionate brother till death E.
