Early in life he came to Rushville ,Illinois where he was married to Eleanor Black. To their union wer eborn ten children, six of whom survived their aged father. This companion lived twenty years with him and passed away. He was again united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Rogers 22 September 1870. To this union were born eight children, six surviving, s othere are 12 children, 40 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, hi swife and a host of friends to mourn his departure. Mr. Robinson first came to Iowa in 1846 and spent a few nonths i nthe now city of Des Moines. He and a older brother burned the first kiln o fbrick that was ever made in Des Moines. He returned to Illinois an djust prior to the war he moved to Texas where he lived during the C ivilWar, suffering many persocutions and privations for his loyalty to the Union. In 1869 h ecame to Iowa and settled near Dallas Center where he lived for 27 years engag edin business and farming. Mr. Robinson has lived a long and eventful life and raised to ma nand womenhood a large and prosperous family. The sons, four in number, a re prosperous professional and business men and the daughters highly esteemed members of society, ten of the children having at some time been teachers and the youngest daughter, Ruth, at home is preparing to teach. During t he declining years of his life, he with his wife and youngest daughter h avebeen living with or near some of their children who are scattered in sever alstates. The past year or more and during his last illness he has lived in Little Sioux near the home of Prof E.D. Leonard a son-in-law who has be envery attentive and careful to see that every care and need was supplied. The sons and daughters who coming from their different home s toassist in his care during his last days which was attended wit h intensepain and suffering but was borne with much Christian patien ce andfortitude, his last conscious words to his wife expressing hi sappreciation of her tireless devotion and care of his during his il lnesssaying 'Mother, you have been so true and good to me and have d oneeverything any one could do to relieve my suffering but you can d o nomore, dear, so go and get your rest.' His favorite songs whic h he oftensang or requested his children sing were 'Jesus, lover o f my soul','Howfirm a foundation','Coronation'.'Nearer my God to The e'. Mr. Robinson was converted at the age of 10 and untied with the Presbyterian chirch. He was ordained Elder in 1871 and was a membe r ofthat church at Lake City at the time of his death. Had the subject of the sketch lived unti lSeptember 27, 1896 he would have fulfilled three score years and te n,the allotted life of man, having been born September 27, 1826. He was a native of Washington County, Ohio, moved to Iowa in 186 1and to Kansas 1885. July 25, 1848 he was married to Elizabeth Folsom, who survives him, and has been a faithful life companion. The deceased became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church i nearly youth, remaining in the demonination until 1893 when he united with t he Holiness Church of Christ. Seven children survive to mourn the loss of a kind, indulgent father, all being present during the dying hours, except one daughter ,Mrs. Josie Schauntz, who resides in Wyoming. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the residenc e, conducted by Elder George Penhorwood, assisted by Rev. J.H. Green. T heremains were followed by a large number of neighbors and friends t otheir last resting place in Fairview Cemetery.
