- The obituary of Emily Scholfield was in the Kenmare News.
Mrs. Emily Scholfield passed away Thursday evening about 8 o’clock at Kenmare Deaconess Hospital. Mrs. Scholfield suffered a paralytic stroke Wednesday Oct. 21st and on Tuesday lapsed into a coma from which she never regained consciousness. Emily Bale Scholfield was born June 21st 1865 at Plymouth, England. At the age of 22 years she emigrated to eastern Canada and there was united in marriage to Robert A. Scholfield. In the spring of 1892 they came to North Dakota, settling at Bottineau. They lived in Bottineau until 1914 when they went to Minneapolis to reside. In 1928 Mr. and Mrs. Scholfield returned to England where Mr. Scholfield passed away at Manchester in 1934. Mrs. Scholfield returned to the United States in 1936 and made her home in Kenmare until her death. Three daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Scholfield, two of whom have preceded them in death. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Synthia M. Costello, Kenmare; four grandchildren, Colleen Costello; Mrs. Dorothy Nisley Roth, Rathdrum, Idaho; Mrs. Evelyn Nisley Schmidt and Clarence Nisley, Spokane, Wash; and two brothers in England. Funeral services were held Sunday at one o’clock from the Kenmare Methodist church with the Rev. Geo. E. Muzzey officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Dr. D. J. Halliday Dr. L. H. Burt, Messrs. H. E. Preston A. F. McKenzie, R. A. Shanberger and E. H. Gross. Interment was made in Lakeview cemetery with the M. Ringen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Here from Bottineau to attend the services were Mrs. John McKenzie, Mrs. S. Sigurdson, Misses Luella Stewart and Emma Pepin.
