Note* | Elizabeth attended paraochial school at St. JohnÕs Catholic Shcool until the 8th where she then attended Napa High School. She was involved in various organizations in high school and very active in social events. She said when she was a child, her father and her would go fishing all the time. She said it was a wonderful time to be with her father. In talking with Elizabeth friendshe had in high school, Elizabeth was always the joy of the party. She was one to not shy away from pushing the rules that were set down by her stricked mother and did not have much difficulty joining in the revelry and doing a bit of flurting with the young men in town. She was a popular and attractive to the young men in town and had many suitors. 1941: Elizabeth meets the man of her dreams, Victor Robert Anderson and he sweeps her off his feet, literally, ashe loved to dance and was known amongst the women as a good dancer. 10 Sep 1942: Victor returned home on leave after Naval School training and his first assigment and as planned before he arrived back home, he and Elizabeth traveled to Reno, NV and were married on this date. They would marry again after the war, due to ElizabethÕs concerns about the church allowing her to receive communion, as the church policy at the time was you could not have communion if you were not married in the church. Also, there was pressure from her mother, an extremely devout Catholic, to marry in the church. During the war, Elizabeth worked as a waitress in her uncles restaurant and be involved in various soroity activities to support the war effort. She would write letters to Victoroften and would not see him from end of 1942 until the spring of 1945. During WWII she traveled to New York with friends and it is the first time she ever traveled out of the state of California. She went with some friends who were going to meet their husbands, who were in the army and on leave. It was a bittersweet trip, as he loved visiting the Big Apple, but missed dearly her husband who she had not seen in almost two years. In Oct, 1945, Victor is released from his Naval Service in Bremerton, WA and returns home to Elizabeth and they begin raising their family with the arrival of their daugther Marsha Rae(named after Victor's father, Ray), on the 26 of February, 1947. They would also have a son David George (named after his mother's closest cousin, George Chierici), born 13 June 1949). Elizabeth would stay home to raise her infant children until Marsha begins school. David would stay with a neighbor, as family economics necessitated she return to waitress work at her uncles restaurant, Archer's, on first street in Napa. 1955: The family was nvolved in an automobile accident five days before Christmas. A drunken driver runs a stop sign, going 70 mph, and plows into the right front, passengers side. Elizabeth isthrown from the vehicle and slides on her face in gravel for apprxomately 150ft. She is pronounced dead at the scene, but is revived in the ambulance onthe way to the hospital. She required eight years of reconstructive surgery to one side of her face. The surgeons did a wonderful job of restoring her once beautiful appearance. Elizabeth worked in various jobs, once her childrenstarted school. She waited tables at her aunt AsuntaÕs husbandÕs restaraunt, ArcherÕs Restaraunt, in downtown Napa, across from MervynÕs Department Store. Both buildings have since been removed due to restructuring the downtown area. She then worked as a receptionist at her cousinÕs, George ChericiÕs, dental office. She worked there as a receptionist and assistant for a number of years. During the above mentioned years, Elizabeth was also very involved insororities doing community projects and hosting and organizing parties and gatherings. At one time she was the President of her sorority and was an officer on many occasions. She and Victor were the life | |
